On February 3, 2015, following the legalization of similar-sex marriage in Virginia in Bostic, the Senate voted in favor of a bill to replace Virginia's statutory laws by making all references to marriage gender-impartial. Following the Obergefell resolution, the Justice Department prolonged all federal marriage advantages to married same-sex couples nationwide. It also found that 55% favored permitting identical-sex couples to adopt children, whereas 35% opposed and 10% had no opinion.
