Adderall XR is a prescription medicine used to treat the symptoms of narcolepsy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Adderall XR may be used alone or with other medications. Adderall XR belongs to a class of drugs called stimulants. Adderall RX tablets 30 mg contains a combination of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine. Amphetamine and dextroamphetamine are central nervous system stimulants that affect chemicals in the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control. It is not known if Adderall XR is safe and effective in children younger than 3 years.
