A person answered the phone after a ridiculously long wait to talk with someone regarding changing my name on my Social Security card. I regret not asking for the representative's name since, to my knowledge, I have never dealt with a government agency in such a confrontational manner. The representative's encounter with me over the phone left me with a 99 percent certainty that he was either intoxicated, high, or both. Slurring his words, pausing awkwardly in the middle of his inquiries, and asking me to repeat facts I had already given him. He finally hung up on me after informing me that there were no open appointments and to call again.
