Veteran wide receiver Danny Amendola has called time on his career, retiring after 13 seasons in the NFL.<br>The 36-year-old's final season ended up being the 2021 campaign with the Houston Texans in which he played only eight games.<br>He will be most remembered for his time in Boston with the New England Patriots where he was a trusted slot receiver for Tom Brady from 2013 through 2017, playing in three Super Bowls and winning two.<br> (image: ) Veteran wide receiver Danny Amendola has called time on his career after 13 years in the NFL<br> RELATED ARTICLES Share this article Share 147 shares Amendola's agent Erik Burkhardt confirmed the news on social media on Monday night. <br> <br /> Burkhardt posted: 'Beyond proud of my brother @DannyAmendola on an incredible football career. <br>'He battled thru the lowest NFL lows (cut several times early in his career) & reached the highest of highs. <br>'His respect in the League is unprecedented. Career pt. 2 will be even better...'<br> (image: ) Amendola's agent confirmed the news on social media, claiming he was 'beyond proud'<br>After going undrafted out of Texas Tech in 2008, Amendola went on to play for the then-St. Louis Rams (2009-12), New England Patriots (2013-17), Miami Dolphins (2018), Detroit Lions (2019-20) and Houston Texans (2021).<br>He won two Super Bowls with the Patriots and caught Brady's 400th career touchdown pass in 2015.<br>In 163 career games (76 starts), Amendola hauled in 617 catches for 6,212 yards and 24 touchdowns. <br>He added six touchdowns across 13 playoff games, including one touchdown in each of the two Super Bowl victories he was a part of (XLIX, LI). <br> (image: ) The 36-year-old veteran won two Super Bowls with the New England Patriots (XLIX, LI)<br>He also hauled in eight catches for 152 yards in the Patriots' Super Bowl LII loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.<br>Amendola also served as a kick and punt returner throughout his career and tossed two touchdown passes on gadget plays.<br>He was a free agent this offseason after completing a one-year contract with the Texans. <br> ESPN reported that multiple teams had called him, but that he is looking into entering the broadcasting ranks instead.<br>Amendola has spent time recently with Brady, Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski filming 80 for Brady and can now unwind by joining Gronkowski and Edelman in retirement.<br> RELATED ARTICLES Share this article Share 147 shares
