Troubleshooting the initial connection to QuickBooks Online

If you are having problems connecting to QuickBooks Online, especially the first time, try the following steps.

1. Let's start fresh and clear out any previous attempts at a connection.

1a. Login into to QuickBooks Online and under the Company menu select "All Lists."

1b. Choose "Connection List."

1c. When the list of connections comes up, delete any OE Companion connections.


 
2. Now let's connect to OE Companion.

2a. Login to your OE Companion account.

2b. You should be at the "Create a New Connection" screen, with a button at the bottom that says "Start Interview." If you don't get this screen, let me know.

2c. Click the Start Interview button.

2d. Follow the instructions to walk through the set up interview. On the permissions screen, be sure to choose "All Accounting" and on the login security screen, be sure to choose "No."

2e. When QuickBooks says you are finished with the interview, go back to OE Companion and click the button that says Confirm.

2f. You should get a message that says Congratulations, and your account should begin synchronizing.
