Im happy I now registered
Despite Oscar buzz, audiences heavily steered clear of Tim Burton's horror musical, Sweeney Todd. I, on the other hand, was excited to see it because of all the thrill and nominations its been getting. Besides, there isn't much else out there.
The first 20 minutes or so are onerous to get via. Perhaps it was weird to see those actors belting out tunes or as a result of every time you overlook it was a musical, there's another music. But each time they began singing, it felt really inappropriate and awkward. Around the time little Toby (played by the cute Ed Sanders) gets on display screen for the primary time, you feel somewhat better as a result of he's simply so cute. This was additionally the first musical number that wasn't so moody and dark. Not that I did not respect the moody and the dark as a result of I did and if you see this movie, count on lots of that. It simply took a little bit of getting used to. You consider musicals as enjoyable extravagant numbers with dancing and dazzle and all that jazz, however this movie is far from that. The numbers are not notably catchy or enjoyable, however disturbing and twisted.
Try to read my other movie review https://www.zanestate.edu/wp-includes/list/i_could_love_you_if_you_d_let_me___movie_review_by_123movies_haus.html .
However, by the point Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter started singing and dancing about placing useless individuals into meat pies, I was bought.
The rest of the film is simply as delightfully dark and comical. It was a great story with several sudden turns that had me thinking "I should have seen this coming." It was well written and nicely filmed, with a rare solid. You need to applaud the leads, Depp and Carter, for taking the cinematic threat they did. Both of them are on my list of best actors of all time and this film is among the reasons why. Another great casting was the always nice, Alan Rickman, who seamlessly portrays the creepy, perverted Judge Turpin, that Depp's character is obsessed with killing. Fun fact for Harry Potter fans: his faithful sidekick Beadle within the movie was performed by Timothy Spall, who is the Wormtail to Rickman's Snape in the Harry Potter franchise. Spall is one man that I would love to see cast in a likeable role. He's a great actor, but he plays the identical ratty little evil minion in every film. But he was great together with everybody else. Even Sacha Baron Cohen, who I hate with a fiery passion, was enjoyable. And who knew Borat might sing?
The verdict: test it out. It certainly deserves all the buzz it's been getting. It has one thing for everybody, when you do not mind a little throat slitting right here and there. Do you think it's wrong that seeing it put me in the temper for a meat empanada? Whatever, it was scrumptious and at least there have been no legal professionals or monks in mine.
